Behind The Wall is a third person puzzle adventure game about a kid (actually not) who is trying to escape the environment that he got stuck in. Puzzles in the game is a bit tricky, rely heavily on “out of the box” type of thinking and contains such gameplay elements as gravity manipulations, portals, other characters interactions, stealth and minigames.
During the development process I was studying and using a wide variety of tools. Some of them: - Budget Motion Capture tools workflow, from capturing raw data to reaching end in-game result - Creating semi-procedural tools using Houdini and Houdini Engine to speed up level creation - Using Forward / Inverse Kinematics for animations and world interactions - Building a custom gravity-dependent Pawn

When the world needs a hero and there is no one out there, he comes to the rescue. Agent Solid. He is not a human, he is a natural born Snake. He seeks and eliminates any target on his way. And eats it.
Play as a snake aka special operative with the only one mission: to get rid of the target.
As in a regular snake game you are going to eat. And grow up. But in this game, when you grow, your experience differs:
small and hungry snake can go into a small vent holes and tight places.
medium snake is in a good fit. can reach the buttons to interact with a world.
large snake is a killer. Can eat anything, including your favorite sofa or antique table. No remorse! Note: eatable food are highlighted
Extras:
Boxes! Yes, yes. You can crawl in the boxes my friend.
Patrolling enemies. Be cautious, can trigger the alarm.
Special objectives such as classic silent assassination. i.e. cut the wire and drop that huge chandelier into an enemies head. Who did that? Not me.
Snake also can jump to reach some hard-to-reach places. Woah! Was that unexpected?
Evac like a Boss! After eliminating the target, fly away using your personal copter. As you-know-who.
It was a tough day today. On May 15th I participated in a Windows 10 Game Jam in Kyiv. It was a short but productive 8-hours-long Game Jam. In the end I took the 1st place, which is great. The prototype I’ve created could be refined and have a good chances to be released in a future. Anyway, now I’m pretty confident that my new stuff will be available on Windows devices as well. Thanks to Microsoft for the opportunity.
I’m glad to report that my forthcoming game Rogue Heroes has been finally updated and is coming back to the App Store.
Changes:
- new character graphics
- player upgrades and gold coins are now secured even after the perma-death
- control improvements and gamepad support (Android version for now)
- enemy AI changes
- minor bug fixes
And the gameplay video, just to show how it looks now:
Rogue Heroes will be back on the AppStore pretty soon (next week, if all goes well). The Android and WP8 versions are coming in a middle of May.
The good one: Rogue Heroes has been finally released on the AppStore.
And the bad one: I’ve already got some complains. Here is the most common ones:
- about game difficulty: a lot of players want to save their progress even after permanent death
- about obstacle randomization: some areas are too hard to pass
- about game controls
- about character graphics
Because of that I’ve decided to pull the game from the AppStore for a few weeks, until the new update will be released. It will fix most of the complains (including some graphics) and contain some new content.
I apologize for inconveniences and I’ll do my best to change cons to pros in future updates.
Thank you for understanding.
Android and Windows Phone versions will be available soon after the AppStore release.
